Sullane Sessions, a new acoustic concert series taking place in Macroom's Briery Gap Theatre is delighted to announce the fourth instalment in its current series "John Blek & The Rats" who will be in Macroom for a rare acoustic performance on Saturday 23rd August.
John Blek & The Rats are a folk and country group from Cork City whose infectious brand of Americana influenced balladry has travelled up and down the roads of Ireland, the UK and Europe, kicking up the dust in the dark corners for the last few years. John Blek & The Rats take inspiration from range of musical styles such as the outlaw country of Willie Nelson, the protest ballads of Woody Guthrie, the 100 mile-an-hour lyricism of Jack Keruoac and the melancholic country rock of Neil Young.
Special Guests on the night are Clonakilty Band "LOWMountain", who have built a steady following locally, through their own gigs but also by playing support to more established acts such as Dog Tail Soup and Mick Flannery. Being invited to go to Dingle to record for Other Voices was the highpoint of an already great year for this band.
Theatre Bar opens at 8pm, show at 9pm. Tickets are just €10 and can be purchased in advance from Briery Gap Box Office on 026-41793 or online through entertainment.ie. For information and updates, check out www.Facebook.com/sullanesessions
